A drawing workshop using digital devices. You can choose to go traditional or digital or combine the two.

The ubiquitous presence of digital devices have allowed them to become aggregators of our daily lives – no reason why they cannot also be visual diaries – you don’t always carry a sketchbook but it’s a given that you would almost always carry a smartphone.

The keywords for the workshop will be boldness and adventure both in application and exploration. The great thing about drawing on digital devices is that it encourages a bold approach – you can’t make a half-hearted line. This confidence and boldness will embolden the student in traditional mediums.

Students will be encouraged to gain their confidence on an iPad/tablet/smartphone by creating a painting on an iPad/tablet utilising the array of palettes on the Apps available and applying it to en plein air and from there understand the creative process, storing and recording the results and for the really adventurous sharing on social media.

This workshop will encourage the bridging of traditional and digital to make the practitioner feel as comfortable with the iPad/smartphone as they would be with charcoal and paper, and for those who want to explore further it’s also a gateway to video animation and a companion to Photoshop.
