Administration & Facilities Assistant Required

Full-time (part-time considered) position to provide administration and facilities support for the iconic not-for-profit Workshop Arts Centre (Willoughby).

The Workshop Arts Centre is currently looking to appoint a suitable candidate to the role of Administration & Facilities Assistant.

The Workshop Arts Centre is an independent not-for-profit art centre established in 1961 by Joy Ewart with assistance from fellow artists and supporters to promote and foster appreciation of the creative and visual arts.

In cultural terms, the Workshop has established itself as a unique and valuable asset within the local and broader community and is also home to the Ewart gallery. Today it is a busy place where over thirty teaching and visiting artists offer professional tuition across some fifty classes each week, in painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, jewellery and children’s art.

We are seeking to employ an Administration & Facilities Assistant to support the day-to day running of the Centre. The Administration & Facilities Assistant will be responsible for general duties including; customer service, processing enrolments, supporting gallery activities and events and facilities coordination. The role reports to the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide friendly and responsive customer service to all who contact the Workshop Arts Centre via face to face, telephone or electronic.
  • General office duties including filing, photocopying, money handling, supplies management and data entry.
  • Coordinate the Centre’s compliance with Workplace Health & Safety regulations.
  • Support the Centres facilities maintenance program, including daily kitchen clean-up.
  • Support exhibitions and events including organising volunteer support.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the administration and work place practices of the Centre.

Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant administration qualifications and / or three years administration support experience.
  • Experience in customer service including money handling.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • A systematic approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to priorities competing demands and meet set timeframes.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, database, email and internet.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.
  • An understanding of and willingness to learn and implement Workplace Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to use initiative and an enthusiastic attitude towards a variety of tasks and challenges.
  • An interest in contemporary art and the small to medium arts and/or not-for-profit.

To be eligible for this position you must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent residency status.
