COVID-19 Updates at the Workshop Arts Centre

29 MAY UPDATE: The Workshop Arts Centre is currently closed for classes, gallery exhibitions and studio hire.

Please find the latest information here:

From Monday 1st June, the following activities will be allowed in NSW:
• travel to regional NSW for holidays
• Visit museums, galleries and libraries
• Cafe and restaurants can seat up to 50 patrons at any one time
• Beauty and nail salons to begin treatments

As art centres are not included in the latest lift of restrictions and deemed as a non-essential service, we will wait until further notice and update our students via emails once we have more information on resuming classes. We will be modifying the set up and number of students in our classes following the 4 square metre indoor physical distancing regulation.

We will follow the 3 Step Framework outlined by the Government. For detailed information, please read the PDF below:

WAC CLOSURE: In light of the growth of number of cases in NSW and the Government guidelines, the responsible decision for everyone’s health and safety and our community is to close the workshop.

As more information becomes know regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we want to assure you that we continue to review and improve our processes and procedures that have been put in place to ensure your safety, and the safety of our tutors, contractors and staff.

The WAC will continue to take precautionary measures outlined by the Department of Health and the Australian Government to limit the risk of virus transmission and over the coming days you will see some added measures which will include:

• More prominent COVID-19 awareness signage at the entrance and around the Centre
• All visiting contractors, will sign in and be asked questions to determine their potential risk of COVID-19

We respectfully request that if you or a family member have travelled from or are planning to travel anywhere overseas you inform the Office. Staff will monitor advice from the Australian Government. For the safety of students, tutors and staff, should you return from overseas, from a travel-restricted country you may be asked to self-isolate in your home for a 14-day period.

All these measures are for your safety, however we do not wish our students to be alarmed, we feel it is better to be cautious. Please continue with good hygiene to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

You should:
• Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, before and after eating
• Cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues, and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser and…
• If unwell, avoid contact with others (stay more than 1.5 meters from people)
• If you have been in ‘close contact’ with anyone with the virus please stay away from the Centre for 2 weeks

The situation will continue to be actively monitored with updates provided.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with the Office.
