course dates: Two Day Workshop, Tuesday 5 & Wednesday 6 October
8- 12+ years. Using a playful but structured approach, learn ways of painting and drawing animals and birds in their natural habitat or domestic environment.
Choose the wily fox, the elephant in a tropical jungle or maybe a horse in the paddock and find ways of including them in the making of a stunning composition. Watch out for dancing cranes, Emperor penguins, the flashy peacock, or the silent flight of the night owl.
Make a simple animal or bird mask.
Children work at their own pace, painting on canvas board and paper and have the choice of working at easels. Materials include: pencils, paints, pastels, dyes, inks, collage papers, wire and found pieces.

8 - 12+ years. The playful architect Antonio Gaudi designed and built fantastic architecture often using shapes derived from nature such as: lizards, leaves, vines, flowers, and trees.
In this workshop we have the power to change the face of Sydney... children can paint a lazy creature as part of the harbour bridge, paint a vibrant Gaudi tower in the park, transform the Opera house into a mosaic wonderland, or design your own skateboard park using the influence of Gaudi.
Children work at their own pace, paint on canvas board and paper and have the choice of working at easels. Materials include: paints, pastels, pencils, dyes, inks, collage papers, wire and found pieces. Recycled materials will be used to make 3D objects. Please bring any materials you keep from your daily recycling.

Welcome to beginners and those with experience. An inspiring 2 days where Mary will guide you in the making of a dynamic mixed media composition. Demonstrations in layering and color processes, collage, frottage and the basics of monoprinting will encourage a spirit of exploration and play. Mary will offer individual guidance with issues regarding work in progress. Bring your queries.
Students have the choice to either bring their own subject matter or work from material provided. Materials list will be supplied on enrolment.
