This course caters for absolute beginners and students with some prior knowledge of working with clay. The course will cover various aspects of handbuilding and wheel work with special projects set, investigating a diverse assortment of decorating techniques including underglaze painting, sgraffito, wax resist, and printing on to clay. Advanced students may also join the class to work on self directed projects that involve a more thorough exploration of ceramic techniques, with the assistance of the tutor. Cost includes $25 firing fee.

Relief Printmaking

Various methods of Relief Printmaking both European and Japanese will be explored and at times carried through to producing a hand printed artist book. Each student will work independently, developing a variety of relief techniques and fostering their own artistic expression at their own pace. Printing will be done by hand using the relief baren and on the studio presses. A variety of papers will be explored along with non toxic studio practises. All skill levels - beginners welcome.
